Pet First Aid Course 

Heavenlyz delivers this nationally accredited and certificated course in Advanced Companion Animal CPCR and Pet First Aid. This is a one-day interactive seminar hosted by Pampers Grooming Academy in Stirling, led by a suitably qualified pet care professional.

The OCN Level 3 Advanced Companion Animal CPCR and First Aid for Pet Care Professionals is designed specifically for anyone who works with and/ or owns small companion animals including cats, dogs, ferrets, rabbits. Types of people who would benefit from attending this course include the following: –

This course is interactive and is delivered in a friendly and enjoyable environment that encourages learning. The course: –

•      Will allow you to follow the same procedures that a veterinary surgeon or nurse would employ if they were the first on the scene of an animal emergency

•      Is based on current scientific information

•      Is continuously monitored to ensure that the content is always up to date

The interactive sessions provide both theoretical knowledge and practical skills learning for anyone who works with and/ or owns small companion animals, including cats, dogs, ferrets, rabbits and other small furries. The course is delivered in a friendly and enjoyable environment that encourages learning. This course: –

•      Will allow you to follow the same procedures that a veterinary surgeon or nurse would employ if they were the first on the scene of an animal emergency

•      Is based on current scientific information

•      Is continuously monitored to ensure that the content is always up to date

Course resources include: –

•      Comprehensive course manual with extensive notes and references

•      Realistic replica cats, dogs and rabbits on which to practice bandaging and splinting

•      Resusci-pet manikins to allow participants hands-on practice assessing vital signs, performing CPCR, bandaging and transportation

•      Certificate of course completion

•      Appropriate use of live subjects is also considered where available, to enhance the practice assessment of vital signs and bandaging. Attendees must hold explicit prior permission provided by Heavenlyz for their pets to attend. For Heavenlyz to properly manage attendance, please contact us to discuss before arriving with your pet – pets will not be allowed to attend without explicit prior permission from Heavenlyz.

Students will receive an accredited certificate on completion of the course. Topics covered include Recognition and Management of situations that involve a wide variety of accidents, injuries and illness. For this, the course is split into 2 parts: –

Part I: First aid, including

•      Principles of first aid

•      Basic signs of health

•      Restraint and transportation

•      Collapse, unconsciousness and death

•      Shock

•      Cardio-pulmonary arrest

•      Cardio-pulmonary cerebral resuscitation

•      First aid conditions and their management

Part II: Wound Management

This course recognizes that the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 restricts the diagnosis and treatment of an animal by any other person other than a qualified veterinary surgeon.
